GOVERNMENT PAY AMENDMENT

THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA

THE RESTORATION OF PROSPERITY

PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT

GOVERNMENT PAY

Discussion: Employment by the government is an honor and a privilege as the pay is more steady and secure, in general, than the private sector; and as a government employee, the employee becomes a servant of the people. There are three categories of government employees: elected, appointed and hired.

The highest paid elected official is the United States President. The President’s salary shall be $50,000, the same as former president Grover Cleveland who was president in 1890 era when the United States of America achieved the greatest wealth production in the world.

THE PROPOSED GOVERNMENT PAY AMENDMENT:

This amendment must be phased in over a 50 year period, as follows: 6% reduction to all government employees pay when amendment is adopted and 2% reduction per year thereafter until the full reductions are accomplished.

The President of the United States shall be the highest paid elected official in the United States, and that pay rate for the President, after full phase in of this amendment shall be $50,000 per year. The previous pay for the president ($400,000 per year) is reduced per the phase in instructions and is terminated after phase in period is accomplished.

The following pay levels are applicable after the approximately 50-year phase in period. The phase in instructions above shall be applied to all of the following:

All elected US Senators and US Representatives shall be paid $46,000 per year, their previous level of pay is terminated. The House Speaker, the House and Senate majority leaders and minority leaders, and the President Pro Tempore of Senate, pay shall be $47,000 per year.

All government retirement pay for former retirees and current or future retirees must be reduced in spirit of this amendment.

Retirement is for the employee; it is the employee’s obligation and choice to provide for their spouse and family future benefits. All future government spousal benefits are cancelled.
